Tuesdays Tips - Cleaning Tools

Today's Tuesday Tip is all about keeping your tools clean.  I work in the medical field by day and craft every other part of the day and night so I constantly use alcohol to clean tools and utensils at work.  I can get all kinds of things off of my work tools with a little alcohol pad so one day my scissors were all gunked up from adhesive and I decided to give the alcohol pads a try at home.  I always keep a good stock of them for boo boos and scrapes for my kids but this is a great use as well.

I was able to clean, EASILY CLEAN, my scissors, my piercing tools, my plastic parts on my stampin cutter and clear acrylic blocks with the little alcohol pads.  I keep a stash in my craft drawer now for my scissors because I'm forever cutting through glue or dimensionals with them and they get all sticky and won't work right.  Just a quick tip that saves me time and effort while I'm in the midst of creating.

If you don't have alcohol on hand I've also heard that Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover can be a great way to clean your tools but I haven't tried this method.  I've stuck to my alcohol since it's been so good.  Hope this tips saves you some time and effort while you're in the midst of creating your next masterpiece!

Amazing You Stamp Set Overview

I just got this stamp set (147215 Amazing You)... I loved the dies so much that I got those first.  I absolutely love word dies!  So I played with the dies some (you can see the box I created in the 2nd pic using the Pop Up Balloon Thinlits and the Celebrate word) and then quickly realized that I needed the stamps to accompany them.  I had to wait until I had another $50 order to put in so I could get the stamp set for free during Sale-A-Bration.  This stamp set comes with 8 rubber stamps.  One of which is a beautiful flower.  It's got some words like "Let's", and "Are Simply" to go with the focus words (Amazing and You).  It's also got the stamp version of the "Celebrate" and "Amazing" thinlit dies so you can do some seriously cute layering with these tools.

So I put in my order and received my stamps and look at what came out in the mean time, this cute hexagon box using the Amazing You stamp set and dies.  You know I'm a sucker for anything 3D so I can't wait to recreate this one on my own.  I think my favorite stamp from this entire set is the Sunburst that you can see in the background.  It's beautiful and goes so well on this little box.  I have my own project in mind for this stamp set and will be making it this week.  I'll share it with you soon!

If you're unfamiliar with Sale-A-Bration it's the time of year when Stampin Up! has a huge sale.  For every $50 purchased from a current Stampin Up! catalog you are able to choose an item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog absolutely FREE!  It's my favorite time of year.  If you'd like to view the catalogs they are on the right hand side of my website and you can place your orders directly from the Shop Now section of my site.  If you're in need of a demonstrator I'm happy to help!  I hope you enjoy this set.
